What we collect
Atmostorm is designed to minimize personal data collection. When you use the site without an account, we collect only the minimum needed to serve the product:
- Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, URL requested) for ~30 days, used for abuse prevention and rate limiting.
- If you search a location, the search string is sent to our geocoding backend and may be cached for 24 hours.
- No cookies required for anonymous use; no third-party analytics or ad trackers.
If you create an account
Account features are not live yet. When they are, we'll collect only email address, password (hashed), and any preferences you explicitly set (saved locations, alert subscriptions). We will never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Third-party services
Map tiles, geocoding, and some data feeds are served by third parties (OpenFreeMap, Nominatim, NASA GIBS, Iowa Environmental Mesonet, Open-Meteo). When your browser requests a map tile or searches a location, the third party sees your IP and request. We cache aggressively to minimize this.
